Joseph Barrett
Born in Midland, North Carolina in 1936, Joseph Barrett was raised on Bentivar, his maternal grandmother's plantation in Profit, VA. He earned his BFA in painting at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, and completed his MFA at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA.

Painting the Bucks County landscape for more than 40 years, Barrett’s work is heavily influenced by the Fauvist style of Fern Coppedge, and George Sotter’s moonlit snow scenes. His work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and group shows. In 2010, his work was exhibited in the Pennsylvania State Capitol Rotunda, and in 2009 he won the “Best Traditional New Hope Style Painting” at Phillips' Mill.

Barrett designs, hand carves and signs many of his own frames which he finishes in metal leaf. His frames are reminiscent of noted Bucks County framers Frederick Harer, Bernard (Ben) Badura and Raymond Vanselous.
